Skirt refashion

I had this jeans I LOVED... I've worn them a lot the last 5, or maybe 6 years. So often that last week, sh*t happened: a hole in the upper leg... But I love these trousers so much I decided to refashion them into a skirt! There are enough tutorials on internet: I mixed them and... Tadaaa:

 Here it is, my new jeans skirt!! I must say it looks pretty good (like buyed, my husband said), and it was not difficult at all! Do you know I never owned a jeans skirt in my all life? Now I do.


How did I do it? I opened the legs with my seam ripper, cut the legs 5 cm longer than needed. I used the legs hangover the fill the gaps on the front and the back. I sewed an apple over the newly made hole, and used a waved stitching for the bottom hem... et voilà!

Marinshirt abgeändert - Marinière customisée

Ich habe schon ganz lange das Saint-James-Marinshirt meines Vaters. Obwohl ich Material und Farbe liebe, trage ich es selten, denn der Kragen ist zu eng, die Länge der Ärmel bescheuert und es ist einfach zu schlicht. Gestern Abend hat es mich gepackt, ich habe es abgeändert, und ich liebe es! So feminin, und süss!

J'ai hérité de la marinière Saint James de mon papa il y a longtemps, mais je l'ai rarement portée: col trop serré, mauvaise longueur des manches, trop simple. Hier soir j'ai décidé de la customiser et j'adore le résultat!! Ma nouvelle marinière est féminine et mignonne!!

I inherited this marine shirt from my father and never really had it on because the collar was too tight, the arm lenght strange and I found it just artless. Yesturday night I decided to refashion it and what should I say: I love it now!! It's so feminin and cute!

Hum.... Mein erster Burda-Schnittmuster... Das Doppelshirt in Grösse 36. Zu klein. Meine Nichte Kriegt es. Ich habe noch ein Paar Sterne appliziert, es gefällt mir richtig gut aber... Naja. War aber gar nicht so schwer Jersey zu nähen wie überall im Netz zu lesen ist! Ohne Overlock sind die Nähte nicht so schön verarbeitet aber eine Doppelnadel tut es auch!

Mon premier patron Burda! Difficile à reproduire (toutes ces lignes multicolores...) et en plus je me suis plantée de taille, c'est donc ma nièce qui va en hériter. J'ai aimé travailler le jersey, pas si difficile que lu sur le net ! C'est sur qu'une surjeteuse aurait été super pour les finitions, mais une aiguille double, c'est bien aussi (et c'est moins cher!). Les appliqués (étoiles) sont réussis aussi!

My first jersey t-shirt, the pattern is from Burda. Obviously I got a problem to reproduce it because the t-shirt doesn't fit, it's too tight. WTF, my niece is happy about it! I would have liked to sew with an overlock machine, but used a double pin, it's ok too (and much cheaper)!!

Ich bin super stolz auf dieses Teil. Der Stoff ist total schön, die Grösse perfekt. Ich habe zum ersten Mal Schrägband selber gemacht (langwierig aber nicht schwer) und meine Nähte sehen sehr professionel aus!

Je suis très fière de ce haut! Il est entièrement doublé, il me va comme un gant, le tissu est magnifique. Pour la première fois j'ai fabriqué du biais (long mais facile) et mes coutures sont très pro! 

I'm sooo proud of this top! It fits well, looks good, I love the fabric! I made bias tape for the first time (easy doing but quite long) and my seams look very professional !

Erstes Werk - Première cousette - First job

Mein erstes Werk. Ich habe wochenlang daran verbracht, immer nur minutenweise (ich habe null Geduld). Für ein erstes Mal habe ich mir wohl etwas schwieriges ausgesucht: alles auf japanisch, unsichtbare Nähte... Das Teil ist ein bisschen zu gross, aber naja, jetzt weiss ich, grösse 9 reicht!

Voici ma première cousette. Tout en japonais, des coutures invisbles... Pas évident. J'y ai passé des semaines, 10 minutes par-ci, 30 par là. J'ai pas beaucoup de patience, mais beaucoup de persistance. Ma maman m'a aidé un peu et voilà! Les finitions sont pas terribles, mais maintenant je connais ma taille en japonais: 9.

First sewing job. It was not easy, my mom had to help a little bit. The book is written in japanese but this was not the problem. It was more the french seams... But I made it! It's a bit too big, now I know that my japanese size is 9!

Wie alles began

Seitdem ich nur noch Teilzeit arbeite, habe ich kaum Geld übrig. Geschweige für Klamotten. Dabei wären neue Klamotten kein Luxus, denn nach einer Schwangerschaft... Aber was soll's, ich habe vieles im Schrank was drauf wartet verändert zu werden, ich habe eine Nähmaschine (war mal ein Spontankauf vor ein Paar Jahren. Nie hätte ich gedacht dass ich sie wirklich mal benutzen würde) und es gibt so viele schöne Stoffe und Schnittmuster auf dieser Welt.. Los geht's!

Par manque d'argent me voici cette année "obligée" de changer mes habitudes de consommation vestimentaire. Fini le prêt-à-porter, à moi la customisation de ce qui se trouve dans mon placard et la réalisation de vêtemenst uniques grâce aux nombreux tissus et patrons que l'on trouve de nos jours. C'est parti!

Here I am. Because I am a mother now, I can't work full time anymore, and my purse is quite empty. So I "decided" to customize the clothes I already own and to make my own clothes thanks patterns and nice fabrics that are to find nowadays. Let's the sewing begin!
